Know the Good: Meet the Partners Powering Give for Good Louisville
Written by Christina Miller
At its core, the Foundation’s Give for Good Louisville is more than a giving day—it’s about building meaningful connections across Kentuckiana and bringing people together in support of the nonprofit organizations that strengthen our region.
As we look ahead to this year’s Give for Good Louisville on Thursday, September 10, we’re proud to highlight some of the partners in our #KnowTheGood series who help bring this giving day to life and demonstrate what happens when we come together for the collective good. From prize partners who add excitement and momentum to the day, to foundations investing behind the scenes, these partners play a vital role in inspiring participation and expanding impact across Kentuckiana.
We’ll continue to add to the list below leading up to the big day, so check back here for updates.
Sam Swope Family
Premier Prize Partner

The Sam Swope family has been a steady and generous presence in Give for Good Louisville, driven by a deep belief in the power of community and the important work nonprofits do every day. Since first getting involved in 2015, the Swope family has granted more than $1 million from their family fund at the Community Foundation. This decades-long support has directly benefitted nonprofit organizations across Kentucky and Southern Indiana while also growing the giving day through operational support. This year, that investment shows up in a big way.
Their Swope Legacy Prize ensures that every participating organization receives additional funding, no matter its size, mission, or fundraising goal. It’s a simple but powerful way of saying “we see you” to the organizations that show up for our community all year long. They will also return as sponsors of the Grand Prizes, awarding the top three organizations in each of the four size categories that garner the most donations. The full list of giving day prizes will be available later in August 2026 at GiveForGoodLouisville.org.
The Sam Swope family models what it means to create meaningful, lasting impact, both now and for generations to come, through their charitable fund at the Community Foundation of Louisville.
Churchill Downs Incorporated & Derby City Gaming & Hotel
Presenting Prize Partner & Prize Champion

Few moments capture excitement quite like the running of the Kentucky Derby, and thanks to Churchill Downs Incorporated and Derby City Gaming & Hotel, that same energy carries into Give for Good Louisville.
“As a proud partner of Give for Good Louisville, we believe in the incredible impact this giving day creates across Kentuckiana,” said Director of Community Relations Mark Whitten of Churchill Downs Inc. “We love bringing the thrill of the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports into this moment with the return of the Greatest Two Minutes in Giving—an exciting way to surprise and support nonprofits doing meaningful work in our community.”
During this signature moment on September 10, donations made within a special two-minute window will be randomly boosted by $20,000, $10,000, or $5,000, turning an already meaningful gift into something even more transformative.
The excitement continues all day long with Derby City Gaming & Hotel’s Golden Tickets, where one donation every hour is randomly selected to receive a $1,000 boost. A great reminder for donors that at any moment, their gift could go even further.
Together, these moments capture the spirit of Give for Good Louisville, where generosity, excitement, and community come together to create something bigger than any one gift alone.
