Give for Good Louisville returns September 17

Organizers Plan for Another Record-breaking Effort

It’s undeniable: 2020 was an incredibly challenging year. Yet signs of hope, courage and kindness sprung forth from the pandemic, and there’s no greater example of this than last year’s Give for Good Louisville campaign, which raised $7.7 million for more than 500 nonprofits.

Organizers were moved by the unprecedented outpouring of generosity, resulting in the largest amount ever raised on this day of giving. And now they’re ready to witness even more community love and benevolence when Give for Good returns on Friday, September. 17.

The Community Foundation of Louisville (CFL) started Give for Good in 2014 as a way to not only raise much-needed funds for nonprofits, but also to garner support for a collective community effort. The idea was to feature a wide array of organizations so prospective donors could choose to support nonprofits that align with their interests.

In total, Give for Good Louisville has raised a remarkable $33.6 million in its seven years. These funds go directly to organizations that are focused on positive goals and forward-thinking solutions that benefit the eight surrounding counties. The nonprofit categories are vast, ranging from arts and culture to animal rights, from education to immigrant services, from racial equity to the environment — and many more.

“At the Community Foundation, we’re big believers in collective impact,” Ron Gallo, President and CEO of the Foundation, said at the culmination of last year’s successful campaign. “Give for Good Louisville is a community-wide example of how powerful we are when we all work together toward a common goal.”

As the next Give for Good Louisville approaches, now is the time to start considering which organizations you’d like to support. There will be more than 550 organizations to choose from, and you can browse categories and lists at giveforgoodlouisville.org. Another way to get involved is by following the #GiveForGoodLou hashtag on social media to see the fun and creative ways nonprofits are bringing attention to their campaigns.

Give for Good Louisville 2021 will begin at 12 AM on Friday, September 17, and end at 11:59 PM that night. Participating is as easy as clicking a button, but the impact your generosity provides will last a lifetime and has the potential to change the lives of people in your community for the better.
