Fund for Louisville
The Fund for Louisville was created by philanthropists who seek to support their community today and beyond their own lifetimes, and who believe they can do more together than alone.
The Fund allows the Community Foundation to pool many contributions to strategically respond to emerging needs and opportunities in the Louisville area with timely, impactful grants today and into the future. Because the Fund for Louisville is endowed, the earnings from the fund will support our community forever.
Call for Workgroup Nominations
In March 2020, our Board of Directors approved use of the Fund for Louisville for the next three years to address entrenched, growing, and racialized inequality in our community. We are forming a Work Group of Black voices to co-create the 2021-2023 Fund for Louisville grant strategy- including eligibility requirements, selection criteria and process, and desired outcomes and measures of impact. Our goal is to create a strategy that is responsive to the needs of those most impacted by racialized inequality.
For seven years, the Fund for Louisville, together with a CFL donor, our partner foundations, the Novak Family Foundation and the James Graham Brown Foundation, awarded 148 capacity building grants totaling $2.5 million to nonprofits in Louisville.
By supporting investments in things like technology upgrades, strategy development, professional development and evaluation and feasibility studies, we helped strengthen the leaders, systems, and plans that enabled a wide variety of nonprofits to pursue and achieve their missions.
From 2018-2020, the Fund strengthened organizations working in Louisville's most under-resourced and under-invested ZIP codes, as identified by the Greater Louisville Project's 2015 Report on Poverty.
