Matthew Bacon, CPA, CGMA

After nearly three decades of work experience, Matt remains a firm believer that we must always push ourselves to become better, be continuous learners, and embrace the fact that the easy path to overcoming an obstacle is not always the right path. Choosing to do what is right even when not easy is a key component of Matt’s business philosophy, and the words, “process, organization and discipline” appear on a sign above his desk.

As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Matt is responsible for financial accounting and reporting, investment management (along with the Foundation’s Investment Committee), human resources, information technology, risk management, and overall operations.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2011, Matt worked in public accounting for eleven years with Cotton & Allen, PSC auditing the financial statements of closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and employee benefit plans. Matt also spent four years working in the industry as a controller in manufacturing and contracting industries and as a business consultant providing assurance, tax, and financial modeling services.

Matt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Louisville in 1998 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 2000.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys performing as Vocalist and Lead Guitarist in his blues group, The Subourbons.
