Chris McGown

Chris McGown joined the Community Foundation of Louisville in 2026, bringing more than 35 years of nonprofit development experience. He has worked in every area of development, with longer stints in Planned Giving and team leadership. He has worked closely with donors (and their professional advisors) to accomplish their charitable goals and has led teams of professional fundraisers to do the same.

Chris worked with The Salvation Army for many years and, over the decades, has also consulted both professionally and as a volunteer with a variety of nonprofit organizations, including special needs youth groups, character-building programs, animal care organizations, and faith-based groups. He currently serves on the board of Alley Cat Advocates, Valor Villages, and the Charitable Gift Planners of Kentuckiana.

An undergraduate degree in Education from Concord University provided a solid foundation for his work in teaching and coaching donors and their advisors about the tools and techniques available to make the world a better place through charitable giving.

Chris is an avid reader and lover of U.S. constitutional history. His accomplishments include being a published author, an Eagle Scout, a Fellow in Charitable Estate Planning (FCEP), and an all-around great guy. He lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with his beautiful (and patient) wife, Angela, their two boys, and Chewy, a grumpy old dog.
