Now in the third year, the Multicultural Fund for Teachers is a scholarship program to support Oldham County schools, with distributions to fund an educational experience for teachers. The purpose of the program is to enhance the cultural understanding of students, and broaden a classroom teacher’s global perspective. Each grant is $2,500 and may be utilized in any capacity to fund the recipient’s trip.

The first award of the Multicultural Fund for Teachers was awarded in 2017 to Melanie Kidwell at Oldham County High School.  Melanie traveled to Germany to attend a language school.

Our 2018 recipient Colleen Davis, from South Oldham High school, will travel this summer to Iceland.

This year we are excited to award the Multicultural Teachers Grant to two teachers. From North Oldham High School language arts teacher, Channing Bowling will be traveling to Great Britain where she has been accepted to attend a one-week Shakespearean workshop.  From South Oldham Middle School science teacher, Christy Davis will be traveling to the Galapagos Islands to bring her experiences back to the classroom.
