Louisville Urban League Challenge

The Community Foundation of Louisville is a force for good. As a leader in philanthropy, we connect donors, nonprofits, and civic partners to create lasting impact in community. We believe in investing in Louisville, and occasionally, an opportunity comes along that allows us and our donors to maximize the impact of our investment. This is one of those opportunities.

Who? Through the end of the year, the Community Foundation is inviting our donors to join us in making an investment in the Louisville Urban League Sports and Learning Complex in West Louisville.

What? The Louisville Urban League is leading our community to develop a world class sports and learning complex as a transformative cornerstone of West Louisville’s changing landscape. This historic development will spur economic and community growth; transform toxic and abandoned property into a thriving local business and green space; and create an accessible, affordable health and wellness facility for the community.

Why? The Community Foundation of Louisville is committed to supporting transformative community projects like this one. We have named this effort the Goff Challenge, in honor of Frederick Goff. Goff founded the Cleveland Community Foundation on the notion that it is not just one family or one institution that has the power to change a community; it’s all of us working together.

On November 26, the James Graham Brown Foundation announced a $3 million gift to support the Sports and Learning Complex. If the community can raise an additional $3 million by December 31st, local philanthropists and Community Foundation of Louisville donors Stephen Reily and Emily Bingham will make an additional grant of $250,000.

We want to help our community meet that $3 million goal, and we are counting on our donors to participate. Already, we’ve raised over $100,000, but we know that we can do so much more. It’s time to be bold; join us today in our support of the Louisville Urban League.

When? You have until December 31st to donate and make a lasting impact.

How? If you are a CFL fundholder, visit your Fund account to make an online gift. If you would like to make a credit card gift, please visit our donation page.
