10 Ways Nonprofits were Assisted by the One Louisville: COVID 19 Response Fund

  1. Home of the Innocents will use One Louisville COVID-19 Response funds to support supplies, equipment and program costs to keep residents and team members safe.
  2. The Hope Wellness Center, sponsored by the Black Community Development Corporation, used One Louisville grant funds to support free rapid-testing in April for 2,000 individuals at a drive-in testing site in the parking lot of St. Stephen Baptist Church in the West End.
  3. USA Cares has seen a 60% increase in demand for services at a time when their fundraising plans were disrupted. The One Louisville Fund grant will allow this organization to continue serving those who have served our country.
  4. The 2020 pandemic transformed us into a nation of homeschoolers. Where do parents turn for help when English is their second language? One Louisville funds helped Americana Community Center provide virtual tutoring, healthy meals, school supplies and access to Wi-Fi.
  5. Change Today, Change Tomorrow has expanded their outreach to the unhoused by over 400% with One Louisville funds. Providing masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, laundromat vouchers and TARC passes allows people without permanent shelter a better chance to fight the coronavirus.
  6. WaterStep’s patented BleachMaker system is enabling local organizations like St. Joseph Children’s Home, Family Scholar House and Wayside Christian Mission to make a powerful and needed disinfectant from salt, water and electricity. One Louisville Fund grants helped provide BleachMakers to these agencies and others.
  7. The Council on Development Disabilities is committed to empowering people with developmental disabilities. When their clients needed them during this time of crisis, One Louisville funds helped keep their family outreach staff assisting families with crisis intervention, access to health care and special education advocacy.
  8. Unhoused men turn to the St. John Center for assistance with good hygiene, health services and employment opportunities. New men are coming to the center daily for help as a result of COVID-19. One Louisville funds helped St. John’s doors remain open 7 days a week.
  9. Arts organizations are inspiring, comforting, healing and uplifting Louisville during the COVID-19 crisis. The One Louisville Fund and Fund for the Arts proudly joined forces to provide funding to 16 arts organizations providing innovative, virtual and online content for everyone to enjoy.
  10. The Lee Initiative quickly stood up to support hospitality workers forced to stop working to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The team soon added Louisville’s first responders to their efforts. Seven full-time staff members were added to the Lee Initiative’s payroll because of One Louisville funds.
