Helping Those with Less
"I was raised with the importance of giving back, that those who have more should help those with less."
William Mapother
Although William Mapother doesn't live in Louisville anymore, his hometown is still near to his heart. "I grew up in Louisville and I now live in Los Angeles. But I come back to Louisville often for business and charitable reasons, and to see family and friends," says William.
William has had a relationship with the Community Foundation for several years. He has served on the Foundation's Strategic Initiatives Committee since 2008, and he joined the Board of Directors in 2010. He also has a Charitable Checking Fund, which helps him organize and streamline his charitable giving.
"I was raised with the importance of giving back, that those who have more should help those with less," explains William. "That's why I love serving the Louisville area through the Community Foundation. Not only does the Foundation's professional staff help guide me in my personal giving decisions, I can have an even greater impact by serving on the Board.
"We are working hard to raise the level of discourse around charitable giving and to encourage people from all walks of life to consider how they can enrich the community through philanthropy," continues William. "It's a privilege and a responsibility that I value tremendously."
